A video showing the two individuals offering water from a plastic bottle at the doors of the cellar inside the main tomb, which has the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, has gone viral on social media.

Lucknow: Two saffron activists from the All India Hindu Mahasabha gained entry to the Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, with bottles of ‘Gangajal’ (sacred water from the Ganges). They were later arrested by CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and handed over to the police for offering water at the doors of the cellar within the main tomb during the holy month of Sawan.

A video showing the two individuals offering water from a plastic bottle at the doors of the cellar inside the main tomb, which has the graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal, has gone viral on social media.

The men, identified as Vinesh and Shyam, entered the Taj Mahal after purchasing tickets and subsequently poured the holy water at the doors of the cellar within the main tomb. Right-wing groups assert that the Taj Mahal is not a mausoleum but rather a Shiva Temple called ‘TejoMahalay’

Notably, a case has been registered against the duo at the Tajganj police station.

Earlier on July 29, a member of a right-wing group carrying kanwar on her shoulders tried to enter the Taj Mahal to offer ‘Gangajal’ on Monday, with the group claiming that the monument was a Lord Shiva temple called ‘Tejo Mahalaya’.

However, she was stopped by the policemen of ‘Taj Suraksha’ deployed at the barrier of the west gate of the Taj Mahal.

She was stopped at the barrier of the west gate and was not able to enter the Taj Mahal, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Taj Suraksha, Syed Areeb Ahmad told PTI.

“After some time, she decided on her own to offer the ‘Gangajal’ at the Rajeshwar temple,” Ahmad added.

Meanwhile, Meenu Rathore, who claimed herself to be the district president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha in Agra, insisted police officials to allow her to offer the ‘Gangajal’ in “Tejo Mahalaya”. She further claimed that Lord Shiva came in her dreams and asked her to offer the ‘Gangajal’ at the monument.
