The Centre’s petition highlights concerns over the state’s reluctance to provide necessary support for the CISF in safeguarding the hospital. The Supreme Court had previously ordered the state to facilitate this support, but the implementation has faced delays.
The Centre has approached the Supreme Court, requesting immediate intervention to ensure West Bengal’s compliance with a previous court order mandating the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at a Kolkata hospital. The government warns that failure to comply could result in contempt of court proceedings.
Centre moves application in Supreme Court concerning the deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the RG Kar Medical College and says that duty personnel are facing a lot of difficulties in performing duties due to non-availability of accommodation, security gadgets and paucity of transportation.
Centre, in its application in the Supreme Court, seeks direction to West Bengal to extend full co-operation to the CISF and ensure full compliance, in letter and spirit, of the order dated August 20 or face contempt proceedings for willful non-compliance of the order.
